"Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up.... You've always got to make the mind take over and keep going."
- George S. Patton
The Middletown Athletic Club (MAC) was formed in 2002 by several local, long-time runners, to promote running as a social, recreational and competitive activity. In early 2008, MAC became an officially-recognized member of the Road Runners Clubs of America (RRCA).
MAC’s goals include promoting running as a family-oriented activity and to promote youth running. Whether you are new to running or a seasoned competitor, youth athlete or Master, run for health and fitness or train to race a marathon, MAC offers something for everyone.
MAC sponsors weekly club runs for runners of all paces and goals, as well as several running-related social events and races each year. The biggest, the Premier Physical Therapy Peach Festival 5k held in mid-August, draws 250+ runners each year and includes a kiddie 1k. Check our ‘events’ page for more details on MAC events.
As a not-for-profit organization, proceeds from MAC membership dues and sponsored events are used to award TWO $500 scholarships annually to area high school cross country runners. Also MAC is a great way to join your neighbors and enjoy the simple sport of running.
