As Juma Ikangaa, a Tanzanian marathon runner once said, “To win means nothing without the will to prepare.” It is the mission of the Middletown Athletic Club (MAC) to promote running as a family-oriented activity and to promote youth running. To enhance our mission, we offer a $1000 scholarship to a deserving senior in hopes that it will encourage him/her to continue to develop as an athlete and help prepare in the education necessary for all aspects of life.


  1. High school senior Cross Country and/or Track and Field Athlete school attending one of the following high schools OR a high school senior Cross Country and/or Track and Field Athlete who resides in the Appoquinimink School District boundary: 
  • Appoquinimink
  • Middletown
  • MOT Charter
  • St. Georges Tech 
   2. Acceptance to 4 or 5 year college or university
   3. A recent copy of high school transcript (minimum 3.2 GPA required)
   4. Two letters of recommendation

   5. One page essay response to the listed question on the application web form.



In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic which has impacted students attendance at school.  MAC has decided to extend the application date to May 1st, 2020, to give prospective applicants more time to complete their application eligibility.  We will continue to monitor the situation and modify further as necessary.


IMPORTANT NOTE: Your application form and all required documents must be submitted via our web form or emailed to macrunning@verizon.net no later than Friday, May 1, 2020.   We can make no exceptions.  Required documents must be attached to the web form or emailed to macrunning@verizon.net in PDF or Word format.

Mailed, emailed or hand-delivered forms will not be accepted. Applicants will only be considered for review if all aspects of eligibility are met. The scholarship recipient will be notified in May and will be required to provide the appropriate information to transfer funds by the given date on the award letter or funds will be forfeited.
